Laura Aguilar makes most of the nugget necklaces here, and every nugget is drilled by hand. Hubert Cate makes the five-strand nugget necklaces. She matches nuggets by colour and size, and will spend hours picking through a turquoise dealer's table to do it. The turquoise is mostly from the Kingman mines in Arizona; the greener stone comes from Nevada. Unless a piece says otherwise the turquoise is stabilised so the colour will not change with wear, and no dyes have been added.
Made from Kingman Turquoise and spiney oyster nuggets, the nuggets are 1/4" in diameter. The 2mm beads are made from pen shell. The necklace is 28" long adjustable to 40+ inches with braided string. This is how Santo Domingo Pueblo necklace were traditionally finished. Its comfortable and quite versatile. Made that way for you to slip over your head to wear. I can finish with silver beads and chain for adjustment, but I don't recomend.
Kingman turquoise nugget necklace is 27 inches long. The nuggets are graduated from 3/4 inch in diameter. Spaced with 6mm olivia shell in-between the stones.
Made from Kingman Turquoise. The nuggets are graduated from 1/4 inches. Accented with corla beads, Strung with 3mm olivia shell beads. The necklace is 20 inches long.

This is the traditional way to finish a necklace at Santo Domingo Pueblo. You can adjust to the length you want and then just slip over your head to wear. No clasps to come undone. I can finish with silver beads and chain if you want, but I don't recommend.
Made by Marie Aguilar with kingman turquoise. The "chicklets" are 1/4 inch square. The necklace is strung on3mm dark olive shell beads. It is 23 inches long adjustable to 26 inches.
